Now, to be honest, I don't think I'll win.  I don't get much traffic.  But still... Alex is cute, and his website is neat, and he does pic programming which is awesome.

Story break!  I almost got thrown out of the Sears Tower because I forgot to take my robotics equipment out of my bag one day a few months after a certain incident.  Everyone was very antsy, and they had just put in the new metal detectors - and my black backpack was still full of wires, wire cutters, and motherboards.  OOPS.  Luckily the security guards let me have my bag back after I showed them my textbooks and student ID, and I promised NEVER to bring my class materials to work again.

At least there was no timer in the bag.

Anyway.... that's my story, and that's Alex's link.  Enjoy!

More yarn?  Or new Nvidia card for Age of Conan?

Crap.

Note:  It looks like the Nvidia card wins, on the next paycheck.  Age of Conan runs so badly right now I can barely walk, but the cutscenes are all fine.  Go figure.

How well can you speak English?
Take the How well can you speak English? Quiz for yourself!  And when you copy and paste it into your blog, be sure to leave off the creepy tracking img at the end!

I always knew my english was shamefully good.  I don't even use it properly half the time, but I still know all the rules.  I have four different grammar books on my bookshelf, right over there.  FOUR.

I will admit, I've only read one of them cover to cover.

but I really like Just Tell Me Why.  "Dichotomies resolved by the majority."  Basically, you go and weigh in on which of a number of options, like Starbucks vs. Dunkin Donuts or Corel vs. Adobe, and say which one you like better and why.  And yes, I picked Starbucks and Corel.  So there.

Run on by and say which one you prefer!  Oh, I have to stop posting on there now heh!  I'm having too much fun!

As it happens, I think the style of English that is used lends the site a certain charm and that it shouldn't be changed to painfully proper English.

 vs2002

Full retail version, CD-ROM, brand new in box, unopened. English version. Will not run on Vista. There are THREE available.

I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it right, but it's fun.  I think of it as more of a writing exercise, as well as an opportunity for some directed babble.

Also, they pay you for sponsored posts.  Which is nice, if you have readership.  Again, think of it as a writing exercise only instead of getting a grade sometimes you get paid.  Or get stuff.  Or both!  Which is cool.  Also, SocialSpark can help you get traffic to your blog by trading posts (I write about you, you write about me!)

They have a very authoritative code of ethics as well. (It's better than the average lawyers, for one thing.... )

-100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure - that means someone reads and approves posts before you (blogger) get paid.  So no stupid spam posts full of garbage links.
-100% Transparency  - that means that people know who you are (or at least who you tell them you are).  You could lie, but that's your own risk of fraud.
-100% Real Opinions - real bloggers, real reviewers, real opinions.
-100% Search Engine Friendly - I really have no idea what that is supposed to mean.  I guess no Googlebombs?  Whatever.

This is the absurdly colorful page you see when you log in as a blogger.  It lays out all the neat things you can do and opportunities you can take - if you sign up, be sure to check out the non-paying posts like the Blog-U-Backs and Sparks.  Sure money is good, but sometimes exposure is better!  Besides, the sponsored posts fill up so fast....  It's better to be doing something than nothing, right?

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Setup:
Vista Business (the worst, most useless piece of garbage I have ever installed on a machine, this useless so-called OS beats out Norton for sheer uselessness)
Office Accounting 2008 Express
Logged in as an administrator account with UAC (item one on the useless piece of garbage list that is Vista)

Problem:
When creating a new company, I get an error message that the program needs my permission to continue.

Details say it is trying to run:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\Office Accounting 2008\ExecuteRestricted.exe /us COMPUTERNAME username

(yes it really says my COMPUTERNAME and username there)

Result:
There was an error granting application administrator status.

And it fails, with no more information than that.  So apparently, even though I am the administrator, I can't actually use the software.

Out of boredom, I decided to try viewing a sample company, and got a message that: An error has occurred while establishing an connection to the server.

This made me wonder: did it even start the server?  It's set to Automatic, but...

Nope, it didn't.

Fucking retarded.

Also, if you want to know how to get the ExecuteRestricted.exe garbage, just set the file to Run As Administrator in the Properties of the file.

Fucking retarded, seriously.  What is the point of Vista's UAC anyway?  It can't even elevate when it's supposed to, and you can't turn it off because then you'll NEVER know when something is trying for elevated privileges.

Again.  Fucking retarded.
